Biddy Ball League

Basketball registration will begin on 10/23 and run thru 11/25 There will be a late registration period starting on 11/26 to 12/3.

Practices will be held during the week and starting in the beginning of January. Practices will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. Please note some teams may practice on Wednesday if this day works best for the head coach. Practice will start no earlier then 5:30PM.

In this league, your child will learn the fundamentals of basketball. Basketball is a fun and exciting sport that introduces the value of teamwork and communication through an active sport.

Please see below for information regarding your players’ age group. You may drop-in during your scheduled time.

Biddy ball players will not participate in the skills day. Teams will be generated at random.

• Intermediate (8 – 9 years old)

  • Time: 11:30 AM– 1:30 AM (Drop-in during this time)

If your child misses the evaluation day on Saturday, December 14th there will be a make-up evaluation on Tuesday, December 16^th, from 5:30PM until 7:30PM all age groups may come during this time.

Junior League

Please note this league may travel to surrounding recreation league locations to play. These locations include but are not limited to Shelby, NC and Spartanburg, SC. 

YMCA Basketball Skills Evaluation Information

Date: Saturday, December 14th

All players, even the coach’s children, must attend the skills evaluation to be ranked for the player draft.

Each player will go through a series of stations to demonstrate their skills and be given an individual score. Scores will be collected and analyzed by YMCA staff. Skills will include dribbling, shooting, speed, height, and defense. Stations will be completed by one player at a time. This should take no longer than 20 minutes per player once they begin completing the stations. Coaches will receive information individually about the draft day process and time. Coaches may attend while their child is being evaluated but are not allowed to view the remainder of the evaluation process.
